Poderosas

“Las Mujeres Poderosas empoderan a mas mujeres”

A butterfly with purple and black wings featuring illustrations of two women on each wing, one with long black hair and a yellow moon, the other with long black hair and an orange sun. The butterfly's body is black, with fists raised on each side. The words "Mujeres Poderosas" are at the top and bottom of the image, and the phrase "Las mujeres empoderadas" is written along the lower edges of the butterfly wings.

Mujeres Poderosas allows Legacy LA Women & Mothers to build their capacity as leaders in their communities. Together, they work on various campaigns at Legacy LA educating the community on youth investment, Environmental Justice, and more.

Their leadership, talent, and culture inspire many to dream big.

Opportunities

  • Community Gatherings

Las Mujeres Poderosas come together to share their experiences as leaders in their community and their own personal struggles in their lives.

  • El Corrido

El Corrido de Mujeres Poderosas was developed throughout an 8-week songwriting course with Artist Vanessa Calderon. The Mujeres Poderosas wrote about their experiences as leaders in their community and their own personal struggles. This corrido is not just for them but for all the Mujeres Poderosas in your lives and communities.

  • Salsa, Ritmo, y Algo Mas

Our Mujeres Poderosas are a force to be reckoned with, which is true with their love for dance and music. For many, this was the first time in years that they had worn makeup, worn dresses, and felt free to dance. With the help of choreographer Charlene Rose, the Mujeres developed a dance to Vivir Mi Vida by Mark Anthony. Along with their choreography, the Mujeres also wrote their own pieces inspired by ‘Vivi Mi Vida.’

Illustration of a butterfly with two women's faces on its wings, one with a moon and the other with a sun, and raised fists on the lower wings. Text at the top reads 'MUJERES' and at the bottom 'PODE0ROSAS,' with smaller text on the fists saying 'Las mujeres empoderadas'.
