What is the Dream Big Youth Fellowship?

The Dream Big Youth Fellowship provides an opportunity for 10 community youth to participate in the planning and creation of Legacy LA Youth Action Center that will be located at the Hazard Park Armory.  Youth Fellows will conduct a community needs assessment, develop and lead a youth council, and participate in leadership training, personal development, and community organizing workshops and retreats.  The Dream Big Youth Fellows will culminate their one-year leadership project by presenting their findings to the community and identifying and leading a community project focused on creating a safe and healthy environment that helps youth in their community realize their full potential and dreams for their future.

Congratulations to our new 2009-2010 Fellows!

Dream Big Youth Council

In addition to working with our 10 fellows, we have created a larger group of 20 more community youth to form a Youth Council.  The council's main purpose it to plan a Youth Awareness Week which will be hosted in May.  During monthly meetings and an overnight weekend retreat, participants will identify key issues in the community they would like to address, conduct research surrounding their issues, and analyze the affectiveness of exisiting policies.  During Youth Awareness Week, councilmembers will host various workshops and service events throughout the community in order to spread awareness.  Councilmembers will also present their findings in a Symposium where goverment offices and elected officials as well as community members will be invited to attend.
For more information and to learn how to get involved, please contact
